Mother's Day-Sun, May 10, 2009

We enjoyed a phone call from Daniel today after our church meetings ended late afternoon. He and his companion were permitted to use the area's cell phone to make calls home. He seems to be doing well. The members are feeding the missionaries evening meals on a daily basis. He said the video game WOW that he played with friends before he left on his mission, has been a door opener with several investigators already! Mom never placed much value on that game! She has embarked on the Family History Puzzle in lieu of the standard computer games!

When asked about finances, Daniel said the $135.00 monthly missionary allowance for food amounts to about $4.50/day, so it doesn't go very far, at least compared to the lifestyle he was accustomed to before he left on his mission when he spent 3 to 4 or 5 times that much each day on fast foods!
